1st squirrel kill

Well I finally got my first squirrel. I'm pretty late updating this blog considering I killed this squirrel in October 2014 and it's now March 2015. My archery season started up soon after I killed this squirrel and that takes up every Saturday, I haven't been able to hunt since October. But anyways, I was hunting with a family friend on his family's property in Alexandria, Kentucky. We got out of his truck a few minutes before daybreak and headed into the woods. We saw quite a few squirrels right off the bat, but decided against taking any shots before we got deeper into the woods and it got lighter. We were traveling down a creek for maybe a about 45 minutes and finally saw an opportunity at a shot. A squirrel was about 10 or 15 feet up in a tree maybe 65 or 70 feet away. I was carrying a bolt-action 22 and he had a 410 shotgun. The squirrel was coming closer so we switched guns. He finally got to a tree about 30 feet away and was running across a limb when I shot. He fell out of the tree and I yelled with excitement. I quickly made my way to where he was laying breathing heavily. He was gone a few seconds later. I picked him up and came back to my friend where we took some pictures of him and resumed hunting. I took one more shot at another squirrel that day with the 22 but missed. We went back to my friends house where we field dressed him. I got all the meat and the tail. It was a great day that I'll never forget.
